Community

We've been making some strides in community development on a different level making community improvements. Here are some of our efforts.

American Association University Women run at Brookdale Community College; you can see the gifted picture of Eleanor Roosevelt in our store. Appreciation to Linda B. of Avon, N.J.

Keeping inventory of books about Starbucks, the tea business, anti-war theme comics, and other counterculture and barista readings.

Military Community Services fundraiser for family support services. British Express supplied large military theme tins. Avon By The Sea New Jersey retired volunteers supplied the footwork. In that spirit we still provide an ongoing discount to military members.  Periodic continued support and goods to the Fort Monmouth thrift store.

Manasquan High School Fundraiser. In keeping with returning funds to one of the supportive communities. Thanks to Dina.

Point Pleasant New Jersey adult homes. Several times a year arrangements are made for the dinning area. Focus is elderly and disabled. Appreciation to Booming Ideas Point Pleasant, New Jersey.

New Cafe contributions. Competitively priced goods and consultant services that would help a small business start a specialty coffee program near Asbury Park, N.J.  Two businesses this year alone. Including supplier finders service. Specializing in out of county suppliers.

Open Business & Food Community Tasting. An at our expense sensory evaluation of organic and fair trade coffee designed to create awareness of the need for fair trade revenues. Appreciation to: New Guinea Traders, Royal Coffee New York.

Save The Manatee Club. The prehistoric animal that should be preserved for all time. Routine donations to the club from Coffees and Teas of Yesteryear.

a store like ours and begin to order. You might find you need a few moments to orient yourself. After all this is not a cafe you see everywhere. That's it exactly, you can't find the staff that won't talk, making drinks from origins they don't know about, and have hardly traveled walking the streets of an unknown to tourists side of town. With this knowledge we make a different kind of product and we were to some degree made into different kinds of people. People associated with our store will probably never darken the halls of a chain store. Except for the use of their bathrooms. Or taking up space to get to the business next door. Arrogance can be appropriate when you have a history of positive performance, and we have that history of romancing the bean and tea leaf.
